Get Ready to Run! Providence Rhode Race on Sunday, May 6th

Runners unite in Providence this weekend! 2,500 participants are expected for the 11th Providence Marathon, starting on Exchange Terrace at 7:30 AM on Sunday, May 6th. Several other events follow the main race: the Tufts Health Plan Half Marathon at 8 AM, the 5K at 8:15 AM, and the Kids Race at 8:20. Stop by the on-site registration/expo in the Waterplace Ballroom at the Omni in advance, open from 1-7 PM on Friday and 11 AM to 5 PM on Saturday. Packets can also be picked up before the race on Sunday morning from 6 to 7:45 AM.

Click here for route details. Full marathon runners will follow the East Bay Bike Path through East Providence and Barrington before turning around and heading back, while half marathon participants will run on Blackstone Boulevard on the East Side into Pawtucket. Locals should be aware that most of the race route will remain open to traffic, so please watch out for runners and spectators! Look for road closures downtown until 2 PM on Exchange Terrace, Memorial Boulevard, and South Water Street, and on the East Side around Gano Street and the Gano exit from Route I-195 West. Between 8 and 11:30 AM, delays and temporary traffic stoppages should be expected.

Parking within the race course is prohibited! Look for convenient all-day parking at the RI Convention Center and Providence Place garages.
