If you’re looking for places to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in Downtown Providence, there are plenty of options for taking in some Irish music, art, or a pint of Guinness.
St. Patrick’s Day Gallery at City Hall opening reception
Glás (Green): A contemporary view of the Emerald Isles, an exhibit by Siobhan Cox-Carlos, opens on Thursday, March 15 and runs through May 12 at the Gallery at City Hall, located on the second floor. An opening reception will be held on March 15 from 4:30 – 6:30, and is a convenient stop if you’re out for Gallery Night. A painter from the west coast of Ireland, Cox-Carlos’ work explores what she loves about Ireland, its landscapes, gardens, interiors, as well as abandoned barns and cottages. The shapes she paints blend with, or contrast, the surrounding landscape, and for her represent a sad part of Irish history, one of emigration and loss of history.
City Hall St. Patrick’s Day Celebration
Friday, March 16, 12:30 – 1:30pm
Mayor Jorge O. Elorza hosts Providence’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Celebration at City Hall with a musical performance by Mount Pleasant High School Chorus and a traditional Irish step-dancing performance by Goulding School of Irish Dance. The ceremony’s keynote speaker is 2018 Deputy Grand Marshal, Michael Kelley.
