This weekend, gather with thousands of people as they light the way towards hope and healing for those touched by cancer. Gloria Gemma’s Flames of Hope: A Celebration of Life™ honors breast cancer awareness month by sparking a movement to inspire awareness, compassion, and support. Participate in a variety of events and programs on Saturday, September 30th and Sunday, October 1st, as the city of Providence turns PINK.
On Saturday from 8 AM to 2 PM, check out the Passport to Survivorship wellness expo at the Omni Providence Hotel featuring discussions with nationally renowned speakers, healthy cooking demonstrations, mini spa services, vendors, and group sessions for yoga, meditation, and tai chi. Stay downtown after the expo for the annual Flames of Hope Illuminations of Life ceremony, beginning at sundown (6:29 PM) on the State Capitol steps. A procession of 150 torches will lead to the Waterplace Park basin for a full WaterFire lighting. The evening includes a free concert and plenty of other interactive activities at the Celebration Village in Station Park from 3 PM to midnight! Buy tickets for A Taste of Hope, a new food, wine and beer tasting under a tent from 7-10 PM; Paint the Night Pink, a 90 minute paint & wine session; or the annual themed Pink Party with food, drinks, and dancing from 7:30 PM to midnight. Combo packs are also available.
On Sunday, sign up for the Gloria Gemma Run/Walk Series, starting with a Kids Fun Run at 9 AM. Pink Pump Palooza, a 50-yard dash in heels (for both men and women) starts at 10 AM, and the 5K for kids and adults starts at 11 AM. See the course map here, and register online by September 28th.
