Free Commuter Rail Trips Between Wickford Junction, T.F. Green, and Providence Stations

Rhode Island Dept. of Transportation (RIDOT) encourages people to leave their cars at home for their daily commutes, trips to the airport, and visits to Providence. In-state commuter rail service will be free for a limited time, starting July 3rd and running through the end of 2017. By giving people an opportunity to try the rail service at no cost, RIDOT hopes the program will raise awareness and motivate people to use the service on a regular basis.

Wickford Junction and TF Green stations offer 20 weekday stops with service to Providence. For those continuing on to Boston, paid tickets are available on the train or through MBTA’s ticketing app.

Parking at Wickford Junction Station, located at 1011 Ten Rod Road in North Kingstown is free. The facility has covered garage parking with electric car charging stations and vending machines. Find more details at ridot.net.
