Be inspired by the Manton Avenue Project’s next production, Once Upon a Time: The Favorite Book Play Festival, at AS220’s Black Box Theater, 95 Empire Street! Performances are scheduled at 7 PM on Thursday, March 2nd and Friday, March 3rd, and at 2 PM on Saturday, March 4th and Sunday, March 5th.
This production involved a partnership with the Rhode Island Center for the Book and the Providence Community Library, and is the culminating production of MAP’s PLAY-IT-AGAIN program, an afterschool playwriting course held at MAP’s Clubhouse in Olneyville. Ten 4th and 5th grade playwrights wrote their own plays based on or inspired by their favorite books, which will be performed by adult actors and directed by guest artists.
The Manton Avenue Project (MAP) is a non-profit organization that unites children living in Providence’s Olneyville neighborhood with local theater professionals to create original plays together. Each of MAP’s out-of-school time programs is focused on playwriting education, mentorship, and bringing kids’ plays to the stage.
Tickets are pay-what-you-can at the door and are available on Eventbrite.
