On Friday, February 3rd, join FirstWorks at The Vets for one of the most significant cultural events of the season, a performance by Paul Taylor Dance Company! Fifty years after dance master Paul Taylor first appeared in Providence, he returns with his namesake company to premier his powerful new work, The Open Door, before its run at Lincoln Center. See the company’s first-ever Rhode Island performance of Esplanade—Taylor’s exuberant masterwork set to Bach’s Double Violin Concerto and Violin Concerto No. 2 in E Major, performed by the Brown University Orchestra with special guest soloists Solomiya Ivakhiv and Frederick Jodry, conducted by Paul Phillips.
Tickets start at $28 and go up to $150 for premium tickets, which include the best seats and a post-show Premiere Party with the Paul Taylor dancers at The Vets Loft.
This is the second performance of FirstWorks’ 2016/17 Artistic Icons Series, which continues on February 24th with Rennie Harris Puremovement. Find more information at first-works.org and on Facebook.
