Thank you to the Providence Warwick Convention & Visitors Bureau (PWCVB) for honoring the Providence Downtown Improvement District (DID) with a Special Recognition Award at your annual meeting on November 1st! We’re honored to be recognized by our local partners, and we congratulate you on celebrating 20 years in operation.

Speaking at the event before an estimated 400 attendees, PWCVB CEO Martha Sheridan described our “wonderful, vital work”…”keeping the city clean, safe and looking great, as well as being a welcome voice in our civic discourse.” She noted two things paramount importance to city travelers: cleanliness and safety, and said that our “brightly-colored force that fans out into our downtown core” displays “both watchful eyes and broad smiles.” She added that our Clean and Safe Teams are “everywhere all at once—on foot, on bike and on Segway—giving directions, answering questions and looking out for us all.” She also gave us credit for changing “the face of Downtown Providence, planting flowers and shrubs and funding bike racks and specially commissioned trash receptacles.”

The PWCVB aims to make our city the premier must-visit destination in the region by collaborating with elected officials and community leaders to attract new hotels and restaurants and expand the area’s meetings and visitor industry. Learn more about the organization here.
