Celebrating its 20th year, Flickers’ Rhode Island International Film Festival™ (RIIFF) has been called “one of the top 10 Short Film Festivals and Top 10 International Film Festivals in the United States” by Chris Gore, author of The Ultimate Film Festival Survival Guide, 2nd edition. Scheduled from August 9th through the 14th, the 2016 festival expands its focus with more walking tours, outdoor screenings, a film scavenger hunt, dinner and a movie options and more! Check out the schedule, or download a copy.
Last year, the festival screened 265 cinematic works from 34 states and 66 countries, including 73 world and US/North American premieres, selected from 5,713 submissions. For more info, check out the 2015 Fact Sheet.
Once again, several downtown venues are participating! Look for screenings at AS220’s Black Box Theater at 95 Empire, Aurora, the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce, the Providence Biltmore, Providence Performing Arts Center, Providence Public Library, The Rhode Island Foundation, The Vets, and other locations around the city. Use this interactive map as a guide.
A variety of ticket options are available—from individual tickets for $10 to the Flickers 2016 Pass for $450 that gives you access to all festival film screenings, the President’s Reception, and the Opening Night & Closing Night Films and Celebrations. For $50, the RIIFF Day Pass is a great choice, giving you access to all screenings in a single day. If you’d rather spread out your screenings, consider the Flickers Providence Pass for $60, which includes a festival 5-pack (that’s good year round), and two tickets to RIIFF’s Opening Night Screening on August 9th. Want to get out and see the city? Sign up for the Discover RI: Providence Walking Tour at 11 AM on August 10th.
