Beginning on December 4th, several downtown streets will have new traffic patterns. The completion of phase 3 of the Downtown Circulator Project involves the reconfiguration of Emmett Square and LaSalle Square, in order to move traffic more freely. Dorrance Street will become two-way from Fountain Street to Washington Street, and Exchange Terrace will become two-way for the entire block between Dorrance and Exchange streets. New traffic signals have been installed.
To accommodate pedestrians, sidewalks have been widened and crossings have been shortened. The new intersections feature public art and landscaping as well. Find more details on the city’s website and in the Providence Journal.
