Today, it’s official. Launched on February 26, 2005, the Providence Downtown Improvement District (DID) is now 10! We invite downtown stakeholders to join us on Tuesday morning, March 3rd, at an event at the Providence Public Library, to recognize this major milestone. If you plan to attend, please RSVP here.
With support from representatives of more than 90% of the valued property within the downtown district, the DID was formed “to continuously enhance the quality of life in downtown Providence.” Our most visible work, performed by members of the Clean Team, involves sidewalk sweeping, trash collection, seasonal landscaping, and most recently, snow removal from curb cuts. Our Safety Ambassadors also provide extra eyes and ears on the street, ensuring that property and business owners, visitors, residents, and employees feel comfortable here.
Our program of work has expanded in recent years, and we have been active partners in downtown’s transformation. We look forward to sharing more highlights with you next week! For now, take a trip down memory lane with this newsletter from our first year in operation.
