Hot summer days are made for getting lost in good books at the library! The Providence Public Library is kicking off its 2014 Summer Reading Program in the auditorium at 11 AM on Saturday, June 28th with the Hampstead Theater Company interpreting Alice in Wonderland, Lewis Carroll’s classic tale of a young girl whose boredom takes her on a journey of imagination.
Following the science-related theme, Fizz, Boom, Read!, PPL’s summer program includes a variety of activities:
• Weekly Thursday Adventure Nights from 6:30 to 7:30 PM, offering families stories, crafts, activities and snacks.
• Mad Science for children on Thursday, July 10th at 6:30 AM in the 3rd floor meeting room.
• Sparky’s Puppet Theater on Tuesday, July 15th in the 3rd floor meeting room, 10:30 AM.
• A Summer Family Film Event on Saturday, July 19th at 11 AM, featuring How to Eat Fried Worms, in the 3rd floor meeting room.
• Farm Fresh RI presentation about making healthy snacks on Thursday, July 24th at 6:30 AM in the 3rd floor meeting room.
• Make your own video game using Scratch software with the RI Computer Museum on Saturday, August 2nd at 1 PM in the 3rd floor meeting room.
• A Summer Reading Wrap-Up Party on Thursday, August 7th at 6:30 PM in the 3rd floor reading room.
