On Thursday, November 14th at 5:30 PM, the Providence Preservation Society (PPS) invites you to the Industrial Trust building to kick off its yearlong series on the making of great cities. The event will feature a conversation with Adrian Benepe, former Commissioner of the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation under Mayor Bloomberg, and now the Senior Vice President and Director of City Park Development for the Trust for Public Land. Mr. Benepe will focus on one of the core issues for downtown Providence’s revitalization: the potential for open space and public land.
This program is a collaboration between PPS and the Downtown Providence Parks Conservancy (DPPC), an advocate for the redevelopment of Greater Kennedy Plaza and the broader downtown Providence park system. After Mr. Benepe’s talk, DPPC executive director Cliff Wood will join him on stage to facilitate audience questions and engage in a one-on-one dialogue.
