UBER on-demand car service has arrived!

uber_providence_graphics_700x300_r1v2Providence has joined more than 40 cities in 18 countries by welcoming UBER, a company that connects people with drivers. If you need a ride anywhere between East Greenwich and Lincoln, simply download the UBER mobile app, or go online to request a car. When it arrives, you’ll get a text. Your account includes your credit card info, so you’ll never have to worry about having cash. After your ride, your receipt will be emailed directly to you. (You won’t even have to tip!)

For most rides, you’ll pay a base rate of $6, plus $.25 per minute and an additional $2.60 per mile. For major destinations, you’ll pay a flat rate. From downtown Providence, you can expect to pay $50 to go to TF Green Airport, and $175 to Boston. (You can also choose a split fare option by selecting friends that you want to travel with). UBER drivers are rated, ensuring a high quality experience. If you have any issues, you can check in with UBER support any time.
