Ring in 2013 at Bright Night

It’s hard to believe that New Year’s Eve is around the corner! In just 3 weeks, we’ll be kissing 2012 goodbye and welcoming 2013. You can now buy tickets for Bright Night, an incredibly diverse artist-run festival in downtown Providence, celebrating its 10th anniversary! Adult tickets cost $15 until December 30th and $20 on the day of the event. Kids’ tickets (for ages 15 and under) are just $10, and you can get a 4th ticket free if you purchase 3! Order them online, in person at East Side Market, or at any Bank RI branch.

Bright Night runs from noon til 11 pm on December 31st, of course! Study the program thoroughly—you’ll be able to choose from more than 100 local performers in 13 different venues! During the day, go to the RI Convention Center, Providence Children’s Museum and the Providence Library for storytelling, poetry reading, activities led by the Rhode Island Museum of Science and Art, and much more. At 4 pm, watch the figure skating spectacular at the Bank of America City Center, leading into the opening ceremony at Kennedy Plaza at 5.

Listen to a variety of sounds throughout the night, from Greg Abate’s jazz at the Black Box Theater and the Mystic Jammers‘ reggae at RISD Auditorium to the Wippets playing outside in Burnside Park. The countdown to midnight begins at 11:15 in Kennedy Plaza with noise and dancing led by Extraordinary Rendition Band, better known as ERB. When you’re hungry, stop by the food trucks in Biltmore Park, to be announced soon!
