Providence Children’s Film Festival’s Reel Connections

This February the Providence Children’s Film Festival is back with 10 days of engaging and interesting films for families. New to the festival in 2018, audiences are invited to expand their experience with Reel Connections, an opportunity beyond the film screenings to make connections with each other, and the films, in new and exciting ways. Participants can meet filmmakers, see special performances, and participate in discussions or activities that accompany selected films.

Regulars of the Downtown Providence Parks Conservancy’s summer family programming, will recognize performers such as Len Cabral and Ricky Rainbow Beard on the Reel Connections schedule. In addition, artists from the DPPC Art in the Park series will bring a fun and creative project to encourage kids to reimagine Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes in their own, revolting way.

Films are screened at various locations across Providence including Avon Cinema, Gilder Center for the Arts, Everett Company & Stage, the Providence Athenaeum, AS220, the RISD Auditorium and the Metcalf Auditorium at the RISD Museum.

The 2018 Providence Children’s Film Festival kicks off at the Opening Night Party on Friday, February 16 and continues through Sunday, February 25. A full schedule of the films can be downloaded here and all details of the festival are available on their website.
