Love Never Dies at PPAC

Love Never Dies, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s sequel to The Phantom of the Opera, opened this week at the Providence Performing Arts Center, and runs through December 31.

Fans of the original Phantom musical, which opened in London’s West End in 1986, will reconnect with Christine, Raoul, and The Phantom and see where their lives have led them 10 years later. Directed by Simon Phillips, the breathtaking set and costumes designed by Gabriela Tylesova instantly transport the audience back to the Coney Island of 1907. The set moves and rotates during the entire show, never seeming to repeat itself. Built with no straight lines anywhere, it conveys the slightly off kilter atmosphere of of the freak shows of old Coney Island where Christine and The Phantom meet once more. Meghan Picerno and Gardar Thor Cortes in the roles of Christine Daaé and The Phantom come to this production with backgrounds in opera, delivering Webber’s songs beautifully and emotionally.

Love Never Dies runs December 26 – 31, tickets are on sale now at the PPAC Box Office or online.
