Winter Lights Market & Tree Lightings: December 1st & 2nd

Join Mayor Jorge Elorza, the Providence Department of Art, Culture + Tourism and the Downtown Providence Parks Conservancy for the 2017 PVD Winter Lights Market and Tree Lighting on Friday, December 1st and Saturday, December 2nd! The city’s annual holiday tradition has expanded to feature a wealth of activities including two tree lighting ceremonies, world champion figure skating demonstrations, special giveaways, live performances, an artist marketplace and more!   • 5:00pm Winter Lights Market tent opens (Winter Lights Tent, East Approach)
  • 5:15pm Festival Ballet’s  “Magic of the Nutcracker Children’s Workshop” (Winter Lights Stage)
  • 5:45pm Fire juggling with Curcus Dynamics on Kennedy Plaza (across from City Hall)
  • 5:50pm Students from Sackett Street Elementary Street School Chorus Sing
  • 6:00pm Tree Lighting at Providence City Hall steps (The 2017 City Hall tree was generously donated by Betty and Joseph D’Arezzo).
  • 6:15pm Fire juggling with Curcus Dynamics on Kennedy Plaza (across from City Hall)
  • 6:30pm Burnside Music Series Winter Lights Edition (Winter Lights Lane, a/k/a East Approach)
  • 6:30pm What Cheer Brigade
  • 7:15pm Dance Party with DJ Tom from Javelin

  • 3:00pm Community Youth Performances (Winter Lights Stage)
  • 4:00pm Public skating closes until 7:00pm at Alex + Ani City Center Rink

  • 5:00pm The Ricky Rainbowbeard Show (Winter Lights Stage, East Approach)
  • 5:30pm Brown University Ice Skating Marching Band performs
  • 5:45-6:00pm Tree lighting at the Alex and Ani City Center (The 2017 Rink tree was generously donated by Mr. and Mrs. Ratcliffe of Cranston).
  • 6:10pm “Christmas in the City” Ice Skating show produced by Sarah DiNardo and Brad Vigorito. This engaging family event stars 2011 US National Silver Medalist, World Competitor, Junior Grand Prix Champion and 2014 Olympic Alternate Richard Dornbush of Corona, CA. Special appearance by 2014 Olympic Team Event Bronze Medalist and RI’s own Marissa Castelli of Cranston. Featuring the five time US National Champions, 2017 National Bronze Medalists, and International competitors, Ocean State Ice Theatre Novice Team. The 60-minute skating spectacular will also showcase local, regional, sectional, and national level skaters including former Disney on Ice principal skaters and professionals.
