Celebrate Halloween by listening to spooky, funny, and not-so-scary stories in Burnside Park at 10:30 AM on Saturday, October 28th. Organized by the Downtown Providence Parks Conservancy and partner KidoInfo, Spooky Storytime + Haunted Art in the Park will bring author, illustrator and Storytime co-founder Alison Paul and artist Ricky Katowicz of the Ricky Rainbow Beard Show together to read their own works and spooky favorites. The summer’s Art in the Park theme–the Wonky World of Roald Dahl–will continue with art inspired by his book, The Witches.
Kids will have a chance to participate in a variety of fun activities: creating art inspired by the pages of a Halloween-themed book, joining in a Halloween dance party and costume parade, moving through a hay bale maze, decorating mini pumpkins, and eating local apples. They can also identify body parts with Mr. Bones and “Guess the Guts” at a spooky touch and feel table. Everyone is encourage to show up in costume, but if you don’t have one, you can make one there! Heidi Born of Ratt Scallion Face Painting will enhance your look by offering FREE face painting.
As always, the Downtown Providence Parks Conservancy’s events are free and open to all ages. For updated info about this event, visit Facebook.
