Want to support local organizations that provide housing and other services to those in need? Donate what you can through PVD Gives! This initiative includes 10 new Donation Stations throughout the city, including two in the downtown core. Look for the retrofitted orange parking meters in Kennedy Plaza, directly across the street from City Hall and on the sidewalk next to the Doorley Building at 444 Westminster. You can also donate online through pvdgives.org. You’ll notice an additional service fee of 2.85% for credit/debit card donations and $.95 for electronic checks.
Funds collected through the program will be distributed to local non-profit organizations that will be selected through a grant process starting in March 2018. Applications will be reviewed by the 5-member PVD Gives commission, and funds will be awarded on a semi-annual basis in June and September.
Rhode Island has a critical need for housing and social serves. At a press conference in September, Mayor Elorza encouraged everyone to “chip in and be part of the solution.” Learn more at pvdgives.org.
