Downtown streets are going green on Friday, September 22nd during the 5th annual PARK(ing) Day in Providence! From 8 AM to 4 PM, on-street parking spots throughout downtown will become temporary parklets, creatively designed and managed by sponsors. (Please note that this is a rain date! Storms are expected on September 15th).
This worldwide event is locally organized by the Rhode Island chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (RIASLA) and the Rhode Island chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIAri) with support from the City of Providence, the City Dept. of Public Works, and the Providence Downtown Improvement District. It brings artists, designers, and citizens together to celebrate community and raise public awareness about including green space in the urban environment.
