Experience one of the leading juried competition showcases for international independent filmmakers, right here in Rhode Island! Now in its 21st year, Flickers’ RI International Film Festival runs from August 8th through the 13th in a variety of venues across the state, including several in downtown Providence. You’ll have a chance to screen more than 275 films and videos and attend related events at Providence Performing Arts Center, the RISD Museum’s Metcalf Auditorium, the Providence Biltmore, AS220’s Black Box Theater, Aurora, The Vets Cinemateque, the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce theater, Providence Public Library, the Hotel Providence, Rooftop at the Providence G, the Rhode Island Foundation, and Club EGO. Check the schedule online, and search by city, date, venue, and event type.

2017 marks the celebration of the 35th anniversary year of the Flickers Arts Collaborative, and this year’s emphasis is on the word ‘feast.’ This broadly focused, independent festival accepts works of any type, on any subject matter, in any genre. Its goal is to recognize achievement and innovation in a variety of filmmaking and storytelling disciplines while providing an opportunity to secure wider distribution. Last year, Flickers screened 273 cinematic works from 66 countries and 34 US states over 6 days. In 2015, the festival had 73 world and US/North American premieres.
