From March 1st through June 30th, Providence Public Library presents On the Table, a series of free educational programs focused on food and dining culture that offer nourishment and connection with our diverse cultural communities! On the Table has something for everyone, from provocative author talks, gardening classes and art projects, to more serious ‘food for thought’ pursuits with culinary training programs for all ages.
Join PPL for the exhibition’s grand opening at a launch party on Wednesday, March 1st from 5:30 to 8 PM in the Rhode Island Room, ground level exhibit space and the first floor reference area. The fun event is open to all, and features a food art installation by Marina and Tony Balko and music by Mark and Sam Taber.
PPL is presenting On the Table in collaboration with a variety of partners and sponsors, including Academy of Career Exploration, Bank of America, Genesis Center, Hope and Main, Lippitt House Museum, National Network of Libraries of Medicine, Regency Plaza, Rhode Island Community Food Bank, Rhode Island Family Literacy Initiative, Rhode Island Historical Society, Roger Williams University, and URI Master Gardening Program.
