Community welcomes North Bakery to Kennedy Plaza!

dscn8058Downtown’s newest addition, north bakery, has already transformed a quiet section of Biltmore Park into a bright, active space. Formerly occupied by Channel 10, the small building at 2 Kennedy Plaza near the Alex and Ani City Center and the Biltmore Hotel is now open every day from 7 am to 6 pm.

At a ribbon cutting ceremony hosted by Cliff Wood, executive director of the Downtown Providence Parks Conservancy, downtown developer Buff Chace noted that the space already feels safer and more vibrant, with people working inside the window-covered building, standing outside while ordering, and enjoying food and drinks on park benches. An awning will be added soon to allow people to order food at the window and wait outside comfortably year-round.

Bakery owner James Mark opened his acclaimed restaurant, north, on the West Side four years ago. Two years later, he launched north bakery in an abandoned space a few blocks away. It’s quickly become a neighborhood hub, and he hopes to have a similar impact with the downtown annex. He received citations from Mayor Jorge Elorza and Council President Luis Aponte, who thanked him for his investment in the city.

north bakery offers coffee, tea, cookies, cakes, hand pies, bagels, sandwiches, and more. Find the full menu here. It’s an incredible addition to the existing mix of downtown cafes, and we couldn’t be more excited!
