FLICKERS Rhode Island International Film Festival: August 4-9

filmfestival-LogoVersionsExperience one of the Top 10 Film Festivals in the U.S., right here in Rhode Island! Now in its 19th year, FLICKERS: Rhode Island International Film Festival™ (RIIFF) features screenings, filmmaking workshops, meet-and-greet industry events and seminars over a 6 day period, from August 4th through the 9th. Films have been selected from more 5,700 digital media submissions, allowing regional audiences to discover new independent work from around the world.

While the festival reaches all corners of the state, several venues are concentrated in downtown Providence. Look for screenings at the AS220 Black Box Theater (95 Empire), The Dark Lady (17-19 Snow Street), RISD Museum (Metcalf Auditorium), URI Paff Theatre, Providence Biltmore Hotel Ballroom, Providence Place Cinemas 16, Providence Public Library, Rhode Island Foundation, and The Vets.

Individual tickets can be purchased on-site at Festival venues, but several ticket packages are available on the website. You can buy a RIIFF Day Pass for $50, giving you access to all screenings on that specific day, or the Flickers’ Providence Pass, which includes a five-pack of tickets plus two tickets to RIIFF’s Opening Night Screening at PPAC on Tuesday, August 4th. The Fest Five Pack also gives you access to five screenings for the price of four. Can’t imagine skipping a screening? Buy the Limited edition Flickers’ 2015 Pass for $350, giving you access to all festival screenings, plus the President’s Reception, and Opening Night and Closing Night Film & Celebration. These ticket holders will also have priority ticket selection and priority seating (up to 15 minutes prior to show time).

Want an inside view on filming locations in Providence? Sign up for the Discover Providence Walking Tour on Wednesday, August 5th, starting at 11 AM in the Biltmore lobby. Tickets are $15, and tours will be led by the RI Historical Society.
