Cox Communications just celebrated the launch of its WiFi internet access in Kennedy Plaza for its Cox high speed internet customers! This is the first of Cox’s three Rhode Island hotspots, and one of 400,000 hotspots for its cable customers in high traffic areas nationwide. Through a collaboration with other cable companies called Cable WiFi, customers of Comcast, Time Warner, Bright House and Optimum will also be able to access WiFi in Kennedy Plaza and these other locations.
To access Cox WiFi, look for the Cox WiFi network location (SSID) in the list of available networks on your wireless device. Simply enter your Cox user ID and password to log in. Once it’s authenticated, you’ll be ready to browse the Internet reliably, just as you would from home.
The Providence Foundation, Moveyourmoneyproject.org and Cornish Associates were instrumental in getting this done. Adjacent property owners also allowed Cox to secure WiFi devices to their buildings, including Restivo Monacello, Marsella Development, the Rhode Island Foundation, Capital Properties, and the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce.
