Mayor Taveras is hosting a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday, July 15th in partnership with RIPTA, The Providence Foundation, the Downtown Providence Parks Conservancy and the state to announce upcoming renovations to Kennedy Plaza. The changes will create a large civic space with reorganized bus berths and improved pedestrian connections.
As a result, on Saturday, July 12th, RIPTA will begin relocating its Kennedy Plaza bus stops to Exchange Terrace, Sabin Street, Exchange Street, Fountain Street, and Steeple Street. Park N’ Ride service will move from Exchange Terrace to Sabin Street, but passengers can still use other downtown locations. The Kennedy Plaza terminal stop for Peter Pan and Greyhound passengers will remain, and ticketing and passenger services will continue to operate in the building during construction, the details of which you can find on this helpful website.
