From January 30th through March 2nd, see the Rhode Island premiere of Intimate Apparel, written by Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage and directed by Trinity Rep company member Janice Duclos. Presented in the Dowling Theater, the show is sponsored by Brown University and supported by Ruth’s Lingerie.

Inspired by Nottage’s family history, the critically acclaimed play is set in New York City at the turn of the 20th century. It tells a tale of romance and survival, centering on Esther, a black seamstress who creates women’s intimate garments. The Chicago Tribune has described it as “a beautifully written and intensely personal play that combines a vibrant feminist sensibility with an ability to cut to the emotional quick with striking veracity, poignancy and intimacy.”

On Monday, February 3rd, the public is invited to participate in a free panel discussion from 6-8 PM. For tickets and more information, go to trinityrep.com, call (401) 351-4242, or visit Trinity Rep’s box office office at 201 Washington Street. You can also read the program online!
