Happy new year! Just two days into 2014, we’re already experiencing a major winter storm in the Northeast. Here are a few resources to help you stay informed and get prepared:
Snow Removal
To make sure that all sidewalks are passable, DID Clean Team members will shovel pedestrian crossings at medians and handicap accessible cut-outs on sidewalks. We expect property owners to do their part by shoveling the sidewalks in front of their buildings too!
Travel information
- The parking ban in Providence will end at noon on Friday, January 3rd.

- Peter Pan intercity bus service has been cancelled on Thursday, January 2nd and Friday, January 3rd.
School & Business information
- The RI Broadcasters listings show local school and business closures.
- Providence Public Schools are closed on Friday, January 3rd.
- RISD will be closed on Friday, January 3rd.
- Brown University closed at 2:30 PM today, January 2nd.
- PPAC has announced that all performances of Wicked will go on as scheduled, but patrons may try to exchange their tickets for other dates, if available.
- If you’re planning to visit any downtown shops or restaurants, call ahead!
