RISD Project Open Door Featured in Providence Art Windows

paw_map_2013_sumFollow this map to see the latest Providence Art Windows installations! Start on Washington Street at the URI Feinstein campus and Rhode Island Housing buildings, and stroll toward the old Providence Journal building (260 Westminster/60 Eddy St) to see works from Karen Rand Anderson, Sue Freda, and Peter Green.

Don’t miss the RISD Project Open Door window exhibition at the URI Feinstein campus. Through this program, local teens were given an opportunity to transform 15 windows by displaying works that respond to ideas about animals, monsters and myth. Four teams of students explored different traditional motifs and developed innovative techniques to filter these narratives through their contemporary artistic viewpoints.

Since 2005, Project Open Door has attracted more than 500 students from public high schools and charter schools in Rhode Island’s urban core cities, exposing them to RISD’s resources through mentoring and creative activities.

Providence Art Windows exhibits juried art and art installations in empty retail spaces and participating gallery spaces in downtown Providence. The shows change three times a year and feature local and nationally known artists. For more information, visit:
