Flickers: Rhode Island International Film Festival Aug 7-12

Experience one of the top international film festivals right here in Rhode Island! FLICKERS: Rhode Island International Film Festival™ (RIIFF) will screen more than 200 films across the state from August 7th through the 12th. Now in its 16th year, the week-long celebration of independent cinema is the largest film festival in New England and the only Academy Award qualifying event. Only 75 of the 7,000 plus film festivals around the world share this distinction!

You can buy the RIIFF Day Pass for $25, allowing you to watch screenings all day; a six-pack for $40, providing you with 6 tickets for the price of 4, or the Limited Edition Flickers’ Pass for $200, giving you access to all film screenings (with priority ticketing), along with the opening night and closing night celebrations. Plenty of other ticket options are offered as well.

While films will be screened across the state, several venues are concentrated in downtown Providence: Metcalf Auditorium at RISD, Paff Auditorium at the URI Feinstein Downtown campus, the Providence Biltmore ballroom, the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce auditorium, Providence Place Cinemas 16, Providence Public Library, Rhode Island Foundation, the Roots Café, and The Vets.

On Wednesday, August 8th, join the Rhode Island Historical Society and the Rhode Island Film & Television office for a special ‘backlot’ tour of downtown Providence. The tour provides filmmakers with an insider’s view, sharing the area’s history and showing interesting places for potential filming. The tour leaves from the Providence Biltmore, 11 Dorrance Street, at 11 AM and is expected to run for 2 hours. Tickets are $10.
