Actionspeaks! Underappreciated Dates that Changed America

The fall 2011 Actionspeaks! program is almost ending. Come to the Cafe at AS220 at 5:30 PM this Wednesday, October 26th to hear Marc Levitt host a group of panelists for a 90 minute live radio broadcast. The program focuses on important but underappreciated dates in 20th century U.S. history, ranging from the birth of pong and the rise of video games to An American Family, our first reality TV show.

This week, the topic is ‘President Reagan Fires Air Traffic Controllers in 1981. According to AS220, “President Regan’s firing of the Air Traffic controllers for refusing to return to work, introduced a battle with labor whose echo is still very much a part of our contemporary political discourse.”

Actionspeaks! is now in its 17th season, and can be heard on more than 250 stations throughout the country including host station, WGBH in Boston. You can listen and download shows online for 10 days following the broadcast.

AS220 is located at 115 Empire Street in downtown Provdence.
